The Dri-Way story begins in the early 1970’s when founder Gordon Roberts was finishing a 27 year career as an industrial electrician serving at Esquimalt’s Naval dockyard.
Searching for a way to provide for his growing family while continuing to serve the local community, he realized there was a desperate need for a high-quality in-home cleaning service. He researched and educated himself on the topic, identified the best equipment available at that time, then quickly built up a flourishing service business simply called ‘Carpet Care’ which had crews serving both the Victoria and Vancouver areas.
With wife Connie supporting by busily answering customer calls (often on the family phone with 7 kids making a racket in the background!), little did he know that he had just begun a proud, decades-long tradition of Roberts family owned and operated cleaning services that has included all four of Gordon & Connie Roberts’ sons.
By the mid-1980’s the three eldest Roberts boys Roger, Robin, and Stephen, were fully involved in the family business. The latest techniques were incorporated and “Dri-Way”, Victoria’s first low-moisture cleaning service was introduced. Shortly after, “Lug-A-Rug” (now Luv-A-Rug) was developed as a premier in-shop rug cleaning specialty.
The tradition continues: Today, elder son Robin and his wife Linda own and operate Oxy-Dry, the most successful cleaning service in the Okanagan, and Stephen runs Luv-A-Rug as not only the premier oriental rug cleaning service in Victoria, but the entire region. Indeed, Stephen (Dusty) Roberts is world-renowned in the rug cleaning industry as a technical expert, educator, and provider of in-plant rug cleaning equipment.
As for the in-home cleaning service, Gordon’s youngest son Nathan and his wife Treena are now running the Dri-Way service. This latest generation has been at the wheel since 2005 steadily providing exemplary service and maintaining a reputation that is second to none.
As Better Business Bureau Torch Award 2016 Finalists, Nathan & Treena are looking forward to “Wowing” you with their service.
